You must have Arcview 3.x installed on your computer
áááá to access the Arcview project created by U.S.G.S.
ááá If your operating system is Windows 95/98/NT, you can access the project
ááááááá region3.apr in the directory of97470f\reg3_pc.
ááááááá For faster performance, it is recommended that you copy the entire
ááááááá directory of97470f\reg3_pc to your hard drive (approximately 25 MB).
ááááááá If you have another operating system, you must define an environmental
ááááááá variable, AVDATA03, in order to access the project in the directory
ááááááá of97470f/reg3mac.
ááááááá On a Macintosh platform modify the "startup" file in the Preferences folder
ááááááá of the System folder with System.SetEnvVar ("AVDATA03", "OF97470F")
ááááááá An example "startup" file, startup, can be found in the
ááááááá directory of97470f/reg3mac, which can be dragged into the system icon.
ááááááá For faster performance, it is recommended that you copy the entire
ááááááá directory of97470f/reg3mac to your hard drive (approximately 25 MB).
ááááááá Unix users will need to define AVDATA03 in the .cshrc file.á An example
ááááááá file, reg3cshrc, can be found in the directory of97470f/reg3mac.
ááááááá Windows 95/98/NT users can define AVDATA03 in the autoexec.bat file as
ááááááá follows: SET AVDATA03 = <logical drive letter of CD-ROM drive>
ááááááá For instance if your CD-ROM drive is drive f on your computer, set this
ááááááá statement in your autoexec.bat: SET AVDATA03 = f:\
ááááááá You must restart your computer.
